Truth Decay

Im reading a book by Steve Hale, good name :), entitled "Truth Decay". Its a book that speaks on the state of emergency that the United States is in right now. I've just started reading it, but it so hits the nail on the head of how our "unsinkable" country has hit an iceberge. Our country has taken truth and exchanged it for a lie. If we look at Romans 1 we see a complete description of the state of our country. Romans 1:18 "The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness..." Well, how and when did this happen? Truth Decay states that "any discussion of America's moral freefall cannot ignore the turbulent decade of the 1960's." (pg. 26) In 1962 the United States Supreme Court ruled that leading prayer in our public schools was now illegal and unconstitutional. May I interject a "WHAT THE HECK?!" The law of the land is going to tell me that its ILLEGAL to lead a prayer at school? Check this, the next year the court outlawed the reading of the Bible in our schools, and then in '65 it ruled it illegal, ILLEGAL NOW, follow me- dont miss this, it ruled it illegal to verbally pray over your meal in a school cafeteria! Steve states in his book that the ACLU and other liberal organizations would say, " You cannot legislate morality, so you Christians need to stay out of the political proccess." Listen to this, ACLU says, "Hibernate in your little cell groups and musty sanctuaries, but don't get involved in politics becuase morality is not something that can be legislated." I believe, as Steve says, morality is the only thing that CAN be legislated. So who's morality will it be? So we go from that to a picture of what our schools now look like. Prayer is banned, but a teacher can however teach a nine year old how to have anal sex in vivid detail. Little children are NOT allowed to read bibles aloud in school, but they can however be forced to read and learn about the use of condoms! How has our country go from glory to shame. We have forgotten the law of God. Dont believe me? A talk show host went to the streets to test some college students on their biblical IQ. He asked one, "What is one of the Ten Commandments?", the young lady replied, "Freedom of Speech." To another he instructed, "Finish this sentence: Let he who is without sin..." The guy replied, "Have a good time." To another, "Who, according to the Bible, was eaten by a whale?" The young woman's confident answer, "Pinocchio." I believe we have lost it. This truly sickens me. We have become what Romans 1:28 states, "... since they did not think it worthwile to retain the knowlegedof God, he gave them over to a depraved mind..." 29 "They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossipers, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; they are sensless, faithless, heartless, ruthless." Here is the really sad part, because if some of you out there were reading this you would probably laught at me, and all this letter has said so far. 32 "Although they know God's righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them." You can get a sence the spiritual meter by what the nation laughs at. Ever seen the show "Family Guy"? Ive heard some who say they are Christians state that this show is halarious. I ask them what they think of the sladerous way the show dipicts God, Christ and Christianity. They simply state, "Well, at least they are fair and balanced and hit every religion the same, thats what I like about it." Wow...

hmmm...

Well, the last few days ive been held back from running due to a small chest cold. There have been some sweet days but Im trying to rest up and get rid of this so I can go at it full force. Hopefully I'll be there around next week.
I spoke with an inmate yesterday who said that he believes in one god but that this one god is in the form of many different gods so that all might see a little god in everything. He's somewhat on the right track. However, he does not believe that Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven. There is only one God, and he does reveal himself to us all differently through different circumstances but Jesus Christ is still the only "gate" to heaven, still the only answer to every circumstancial equation. John 10:1 "I tell you the truth, the man who does not enter the sheep pen by the gate, but climbs in by some other way, is a thief and a robber. The man who enters by the gate is the shepherd of his sheep." 10:7 "I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep. " 10:9 "I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved."

Welcome all who are thirsty

This is just some of my personal thoughts and well also a running log to keep me intentional about running. I ran last night, it wasn't a pretty time. I went two miles... its been awhile since I've ran. First mile 8:23, and the final time was 16:27. The weather was sunny 67 deg. and winds S 170-180 at 5-7 knots.Today, work was a little dry. I spent time with a few inmates over the last few days talking about Christianity and what it means to be saved. I ask inmate A, "When you die are you going to go to heaven?" He said most likely not. I asked him what he would say to God when asked "Why should I let you into my Heaven?" He said he would ask God to give him a chance, like just please let me in.. I went into it head first, the way of the master way. It went pretty good. I told him about the court room and how he would be judged based on the ten commandments. I told him that God is a just God and that he would receive just payment for his sin. He followed it and then told me it is just to hard to be religious in prison. I explained that its no easier on the street, but the reward is well worth it in heaven for the small amount of suffering we will endure here on earth. He didn't want to hear it. My struggle is seeing this particular type of person. Not willing to give it up. Whatever it is that they don't want to let go of. My Jewish inmate that refuses to believe in the name of Jesus Christ. I look at him every time I see him and just thing, "wow God, a wasted life, a wasted soul" I know that (unless something drastic happens) that this inmate is going to spend eternity in hell. How do you deal with that? My heart aches for him just typing this, thinking about the torment he will endure. He follows every command in the old testament to the T, but its just legalistic religion... not a personal intimate relationship. Then you think about that God knew at the beginning of time that this guy would never make it. Why? As I said today was dry, I didn't get to talk to anyone really in depth so may be tomorrow will be a better day
